KAFTAN DRESS: PAST & PRESENT

Oct 3, 2024 Calaqisya

The kaftan has a long history and a variety of uses, which means that living the kaftan life can mean many different experiences to many other people. For us, it's a phrase that we shouted with our group of girlfriends over weekend outings, Saturday morning spent with friends hunting for breakfast spots, Netflix and Instagram; also Sunday night "family" dinners – while communing in kaftans.

KAFTANS have made a huge comeback onto the fashion scene in recent years, becoming increasingly more popular for its casual concept. Kaftans are previously just simple robes that slip over the head and are often very brightly coloured and patterned.

It has been a tradition in Southeast Asia where the people love wearing Kaftans. The fabrics that are used to make the kaftans were dyed using the Batik method of producing colourful, floral and abstract patterns. One reason that contemporary kaftans are so sought after is that they are easy to just slip over and are an undemanding and comfortable garment to wear.

Designing Kaftan as Dailywears

For us, "living the kaftan life" means making the choices that make us happy, like choosing friend-time over work-time or comfortable clothing over whatever's trendy that day. Life is stressful, and sometimes we don't have control over what's causing that stress. But we have control over what we do with our precious free time. We humbly suggest making that time count by spending it in clothes that make you feel good and, more importantly, with people who make you feel good. Thus,'Kaftan:Fly' was created and made to be something traditional yet has an urban, fused in one look.

We're on a quest to address some of the big problems in women's fashion, by offering apparel that's exceedingly comfortable, flattering for a range of sizes and body types and produced with self-sourced comfiest cotton. Since Kaftan:Fly first debut in late 2018, we're convinced that the style is begun to meet the key objective. And guaranteed to make all ladies look chic and decent at the same time.

We are anticipating expanding our product catalogue in producing Kaftan ranges that will make our customers and us can feel good inside and out.

We recommend you to use a measuring tape. You also can use the same measuring tape found in a normal sewing kit. If you don't have a measuring tape, you can use a piece of yarn, twine, or string and compare it to a yardstick. It is best to take measurements in your undergarments. Measuring over other clothing will give you an inaccurate measurement.

Bust - For the most accurate measurement, wear the bra that you plan on wearing with your kaftan (or no bra if you don't plan on wearing one at all!). Measure around the fullest part of your chest, ensuring that your arms are down by your sides and that the measuring tape is straight across your back (easy to do this in front of a mirror).

Waist - Measure around your waist at the smallest point. Ensure that the measuring tape stays level across your back.

Hips - Stand up straight with your feet together. Measure around the fullest part of your hips.
